Participation: The project involved 265 citizens, notably 160 participants from the municipality of Keť (Slovakia), 10 from the city Cieszanow (Poland), 10 from the city Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany), 20 from the city Diósd (Hungary), 5 from the municipality of Lázi (Hungary), 45 from the municipality of Brâncovenești (Romania), 15 from the municipality of Kéty (Hungary).

Short description:


The day of 20.08.2016 mayor of municipality Keť officially welcomed the participants of the event, presented the project idea, the individual partners and their role in the project, the survey aimed to determine the attitudes of participants the current problems of the European Union, Euro-skepticism and the degree of knowledge of EU migration policy. Participants become familiar with the issues of European citizenship, active participation in the democratic life of the EU, strengthening the confidence of the EU, implementation of EU policies in citizens 'lives at municipal level, citizens' fundamental rights. They had the opportunity to understand the concept of Euroscepticism, discuss its implications for the future of the European Union, received information about the benefits of being an EU member. Representatives of the project partners participated in meetings aimed at promoting partnerships between municipalities. In the afternoon, the participants of the event through the workshop acquainted with specific tools to actively participate in the democratic life of the EU, implementation of EU policies in citizens 'lives at municipal level, citizens' fundamental rights, how to adopt the methods of their application. Government, associations, young people gained an overview, practices, exchange experiences, how to use the tools of influencing EU policies on the ground. In the evening there was prepared a cultural program aimed at getting to know the project partners, their customs, traditions and cultural heritage.


The day of  21.08.2016 meeting participants focused attention on the debate on the future of the European Union, the massive influx of immigrants and its impact on the daily lives of EU citizens. The participants of the event received information about the objectives of the EU (migration policy), they had opportunity to exchange their views, experiences and ideas to realize the EU's fundamental values such as solidarity, cohesion and respect for different cultural principles. During the event the survey took place aimed at detect the attitudes of ordinary to the current problems in Europe, their knowledge of European migration policy, what they think of euroscepticism, what they would change in European migration policy, how they would help in the integration of migrants. After completion of all activities the final conference took place connected with the recovery of the event, presentation of survey results and understanding the issues of active European citizenship, democratic values of the EU, the rights of European citizens, making the EU policies and opportunities to increase its knowledge among ordinary citizens with space for public debate, connected with the possibility of questioning the representatives of local and regional authorities and representatives of the project partners with a view to understanding the purpose of the event and its relevance to the lives of ordinary citizens and civil society actors working at the local level. During the event there was a convergence of thought and values of participants, presentation of the customs, traditions, formal and informal discussions, the presentation of cultural heritage.
